Victoria Lipnic of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a leading contender to head the U.S. Department of Labor under President-elect Donald Trump, would bring years of experience working at the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Commerce under Republican administrations.
Lipnic, an EEOC commissioner since 2010 who was nominated by President Barack Obama, headed a major branch of the Labor Department under President George W. Bush. One of two Republicans out of five EEOC commissioners, Lipnic has shown the ability to cooperate across the aisle, but has not hesitated to question labor and employment measures that she believes might be burdensome for businesses or unsupported by existing law, records suggest.
