Despite uncertainty about how Donald Trump’s presidency will shape the next four years, firms with California roots remain bullish on their prospects in the Washington market.

Munger, Tolles & Olson became the latest California-based firm to expand to the nation’s capital when it opened its Washington office in September, with former Solicitor General Don Verrilli at the helm. Others have made recent high-profile additions, such as Cooley’s hiring of former Federal Communications Commissioner Robert McDowell earlier this month. Across the board, firm leaders said they expect a steady stream of regulatory work to keep them growing.
