C.R. Bard Inc. had a tough road ahead earlier this year to convince a jury that its pelvic mesh device, used to treat urinary incontinence, didn’t cause a woman’s severe pain.

The jury was in the traditionally more plaintiff-friendly venue of Missouri state court. The trial lasted more than two months — longer than any other pelvic mesh trial.
