Founded in 1884 as the National Cash Register Co., NCR Corp., a Fortune 500 company, perhaps is best known for making machines used for electronic transactions, such as ATMs and self-checkout stations for supermarkets and other large stores. It is now marketing itself as a player in the so-called “omnichannel environment” — online, in-store and mobile commerce merged into one “seamless” shopping experience.

With more than 30,000 employees doing business in 180 countries, NCR soon is moving from suburban Atlanta to a new space in the city.
