Latham & Watkins raided the outgoing Obama administration’s environment and energy legal brain trust this week, hiring four partners and a counsel from the Department of the Interior, Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The group’s pickup coincides with the vast turnover of federal government employees that’s typical for a presidential transition. But lucky for this group, the new president has already placed the land use and natural resources issues they specialize in — such as the development of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines — in his bull’s-eye.
