General Electric Co.’s roughly 300,000 employees have seen big changes recently. Last year, GE’s corporate base moved from Fairfield, Connecticut, to Boston, though some employees went to either Norwalk, Connecticut, or elsewhere in the GE system. And the company has become a digital industrial corporation more focused on technology. In the last two years, Dimitrief said, GE has transformed its portfolio of businesses “quite drastically” including by parting ways with most of GE Capital and through a proposed merger with energy services firm Baker Hughes.

LEGAL TEAM

The global law and policy team at GE includes legal, compliance and governmental affairs staff as well as an environmental health and safety team. The department is made up of roughly 5,000 employees, including approximately 800 lawyers. “I think it would be fair to say it’s bigger than some firms,” Dimitrief said.
