The Texas legal community was saddened and shaken last week by the death of Michael T. Shelby, a respected former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas who, after years dedicated to public service, had recently left his post to become a litigation partner in Fulbright & Jaworski.

“It’s a sad, sad thing when a guy of that talent and energy passes at 47,” says Rusty Hardin, who worked with Shelby at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in the 1980s. “You just shake your head with regret.”
