As Tay Via prepares to leave her real estate practice for a three-month sabbatical, there’s one worry on her mind: “Who’s going to water my plants?”

The Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass partner has for the past six months been preparing clients and partners for her extended break, which begins in August. She said her clients are supportive, offering travel tips, and partners have been busy clearing her plate for the time she’s away. What makes that possible, she said, is the 60-attorney firm’s culture of mutual support and client-sharing.
