Frederick Kilgour, a professor who revolutionized the way libraries store and share data, died at the age of 92, according to the Online Computer Library Center, which he founded in Dublin, Ohio. Kilgour had spent 30 years as an academic librarian and historian of science and technology at Harvard and Yale when he was hired in 1967 by the Ohio College Association to establish WorldCat, the world's first computerized library network.

Frederick Kilgour, a professor who revolutionized the way libraries store and share data, died Monday in Chapel Hill, N.C., according to the Online Computer Library Center, which he founded in Dublin, Ohio. He was 92.
He retired in 1994 after 14 years of teaching at the University of North Carolina and later was a distinguished research professor emeritus at the university’s School of Information and Library Science.
