Close to 100 lawyers from Dallas-based Jenkens & Gilchrist moved to Hunton & Williams, effective Sunday, as the troubled Jenkens prepares to shut its doors.
Management at Jenkens has been negotiating the deal with Virginia-based Hunton & Williams for months, but the firm did not confirm the mass lateral move until the day after the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the Internal Revenue Service announced a settlement with Jenkens related to its former Chicago-based tax-shelter practice.
