On Thursday, Locke Liddell & Sapp followed moves made earlier last week by Houston-based firms Vinson & Elkins and Andrews Kurth, raising first- and second-year associate salaries in its Texas and Washington, D.C., offices to $160,000 and $170,000 respectively effective Aug. 1.

“As communicated earlier, Locke Liddell & Sapp management has been studying the possibility of increasing associate salaries. It is always our intent to remain a competitive force in the marketplace, and to attract and keep top talent,” managing partner Jerry K. Clements wrote in an e-mail sent to associates on Thursday.
