When William J. “Bill” Piercy heard the inspiring words of University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer speaking in Atlanta — the heart of the Georgia Bulldog nation, no less — he was determined to tap into the 15,000 displaced Swamp creatures now residing in the metro area.

So Piercy and friends created Gators for Business, a business networking arm of the Atlanta Gator Club, the Atlanta-based Florida alumni association. The project really took off when Meyer led Florida to a 2007 national football championship.
