Dutch financial services company ING Groep N.V. has hired New York’s Sullivan & Cromwell to handle its proposed $6.1 billion purchase of Minneapolis-based ReliaStar Financial Corp. ReliaStar has hired New York’s Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and Minneapolis’ Faegre & Benson.

The Sullivan & Cromwell attorneys are partners Stephen M. Kotran, William D. Torchiana, Willard B. Taylor, Max J. Schwartz and Mark J. Menting; special counsel-insurance Chiahua Pan; special counsel-broker dealer Paul J. McElroy; and associates Scott I. Sonnenblick, Joy M. Willing, John K. Robinson, Maya G.
