The days of never-ending depositions in Commercial Division cases are drawing to an end.

Chief Administrative Judge A. Gail Prudenti authorized limitations on depositions in an order issued today. The new Rule 11-d of the Rules of Practice for the Commercial Division will limit parties to taking 10 depositions for up to seven hours per person.

Under the rule parties can stipulate to more depositions or longer depositions, or Commercial Division judges could order exceptions for “good cause.” The rule change will go into effect April 1, 2015.
