OCA Says Johnson Vindicated by Grand Jury Vote
A grand jury last week decided not to indict a man who had been released on his own recognizance after his arrest for allegedly making threats against police, but the head of the union that represents court officers says that "doesn't change anything" with regard to the reappointment of the judge in the case, whom he called "unfit."

A grand jury last week decided not to indict a man who had been released on his own recognizance after his arrest for allegedly making threats against police.
Law enforcement representatives were angered when Mayor Bill de Blasio reappointed for a second time the judge in the threat case, Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson (See Profile), on the last day of her term on Dec. 31.
However, David Bookstaver, a spokesman for the United Court System, said that the judge was vindicated by the grand jury's decision Thursday and Devon Coley's appearance in court Friday, Jan. 9 on two unrelated charges.
