The criminal complaint alleging public corruption charges against Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver features two law firms: the prominent personal injury firm of Weitz & Luxenberg and a little-known two-person tax certiorari firm, Goldberg & Iryami.

While it was common knowledge that Silver was of counsel at Weitz & Luxenberg, his relationship with Goldberg & Iryami was never disclosed.

The criminal complaint unsealed Thursday by the Southern District U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara alleges Silver entered into a corrupt relationship with a co-conspirator who had been his counsel in the Assembly and operated a real estate law firm that specialized in making applications to New York City to reduce taxes assessed on properties.
