The Manhattan District Attorney's office and the New York Attorney General's Office filed briefs Friday opposing a petition by seven news organizations requesting access to sealed records in the trial of Pedro Hernandez, the accused killer of Etan Patz.

Both briefs argue that Acting Justice Maxwell Wiley appropriately sealed transcripts of closed court arguments involving evidence admissibility, and questionnaires filled out by prospective jurors.

Hernandez's lawyer in the proceeding also filed a brief saying Wiley had acted appropriately to protect Hernandez's right to a fair trial.
