A challenge to a state trooper's seizure of smuggled oxycodone pills at a traffic stop could depend on the résumé of a dog.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit agreed that a Vermont man arrested for having 659 oxycodone pills in his underwear has a right to review the performance records of a drug-sniffing canine, whose on-the-job performance was crucial to his arrest.

Michael Foreste, who was apprehended by Vermont State Police Sgt. Eric Albright, had argued that he should be able to see the records of the K-9, Duchess Corrie, because the dog provided the probable cause for a search warrant used to uncover the drugs.
