Robert Pitler, a longtime Brooklyn Law School professor who served as counsel to former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, has died. He was 74.

In a statement to the Law Journal, Brooklyn Law Dean Nicholas Allard said Pitler died after battling a “grave illness.”

Allard said Pitler “was a deeply cherished and revered member” of the Brooklyn Law community who had a profound and lasting impact on generations of students.
