When the current decade began, Dechert was failing to attract, develop or retain a diverse staff, and its management felt the firm needed to overhaul its approach to diversity.
“Frankly we weren't where we wanted to be and we weren't quite sure what do,” CEO Daniel O'Donnell said.
Dechert had made previous efforts. It included diversity when determining its core values early in the last decade. A few years later, Dechert held its first diversity-training program.
