Representatives from the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the New York County Lawyers Association and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association are among those expected to speak at a public hearing in Manhattan Tuesday on the state's attorney disciplinary system.
The event, beginning 11 a.m. at 14 Vesey St., is the third and final hearing planned by the state Commission on Statewide Attorney Discipline as it formulates recommendations to Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman.
Among the issues Lippman directed the panel to explore was whether one statewide entity would work better than the attorney grievance and discipline panels operating within each of the four Appellate Divisions (NYLJ, Feb. 18). Testimony before the commission was by invitation only.
