A New York University School of Law alumnus who owns the Miami Dolphins football franchise has given his alma mater a $20 million gift, the largest single donation the school has received in its 180-year history.

Stephen Ross, who received his LL.M. in taxation from NYU Law in 1966, is also the founder and chairman of the Related Companies, a New York-based international real estate firm with holdings that include Carnegie Park and Time Warner Center.
