Timothy Wu, a law school professor who ran a surprisingly strong insurgent candidacy for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor last fall, has joined New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's staff.

Schneiderman's office announced Monday that Wu will be senior enforcement counsel and special adviser, offering his expertise on questions of legal access and unfair competition involving the Internet.

Wu, 43, provides an “unparalleled depth of understanding of the intersection between technology and the law,” Schneiderman said in a statement.
