A federal judge has ordered the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to run advertisements for “The Muslims Are Coming,” a documentary film about Muslim comedians.

Southern District Judge Colleen McMahon said the First Amendment right of free speech requires the MTA to permit the ads on buses and in subway cars, regardless of its new policy to avoid controversy and litigation over political ads.

“The Muslims Are Coming” is a 2013 film produced by Vaguely Qualifed Productions (VQP) that follows a group of American Muslim comedians as they travel across the country performing stand-up routines and interacting with locals. The money for the ads was raised by VQP in part through a public campaign called The Fighting-Bigotry-with-Delightful-Posters Campaign!
