The Special Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation held an organizational meeting at the New York City Bar Association Tuesday.
Among the panelists are, from left, James Lack, a former Court of Claims judge and former state senator; Gary Johnson, executive legal counsel at Medgar Evers College; Sheila Birnbaum, a partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan who chairs the panel; and Barry Cozier, senior counsel at LeClairRyan and a retired Appellate Division justice. Panelists Fran Reiter, partner at the Reiter Giuliani Group, and former Assembly Ways and Means Committee Secretary Roman Hedges attended the meeting by phone and Mitra Hormozi, general counsel of the Revlon Corporation, was unable to attend.
The commission scheduled a public hearing in New York City on Nov. 30 to discuss judicial pay raises and scheduled additional meetings for Dec. 7 and Dec. 16.
