Judge Valerie Caproni has been propelling the parties forward at a brisk pace in the public corruption trial of former Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver, insisting on using just about every minute of every day to keep proceedings moving.

“Let's go,” Caproni said to the lawyers following her formal introduction to the jury on the first day of the Silver trial, and that's a phrase they have heard many times since.

Caproni, 60, gets to the point and stays there with the attorneys, using both dry humor and direct admonition to make clear there will be no interruptions or delays, and that she has no patience for “filibustering.”
