There's no word from the White House as to who may be the next U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, but in recent weeks Republican congressmen from the metropolitan area have met with possible contenders.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Donovan, whose district includes Staten Island and South Brooklyn, said he has met with Seth DuCharme, head of the national security and cybercrime section of the Eastern District U.S. Attorney's Office; as well as Joan Illuzzi, a Manhattan prosecutor who ran unsuccessfully for Staten Island district attorney.

In his time with the Eastern District, DuCharme worked on the terrorism prosecutions of Agron Hasbajrami and of a group of members of the Somalia-based terror organization al-Shabaab. DuCharme declined to comment for this story.
