After weeks of tortured jury deliberations ended with a mistrial in the Dewey & LeBoeuf criminal case in 2015, observers questioned the length, scope and complexity of the five-month-long case put on by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

A new jury on Monday finally began deliberations in the retrial of former Dewey CFO Joel Sanders and former executive director Stephen DiCarmine, who are accused of duping the firm's lenders and investors about its precarious finances before its 2012 collapse into bankruptcy.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
