Cellino & Barnes, a personal injury law firm known for its hefty advertising campaign and television jingle, could be headed toward a breakup.

One of the firm's namesakes, Ross Cellino Jr., filed suit against the firm and partner Stephen Barnes on Wednesday in state court in New York's Erie County, according to court records. Multiple news reports have said Cellino's lawyer, Terrence Connors of Connors LLP in Buffalo, filed papers looking to show cause why the personal injury firm should not be dissolved.

Other details of the lawsuit weren't immediately available, as most of the substantive documents in the case are under seal. Neither Connors nor Barnes responded immediately to a request for comment on Thursday. A hearing is scheduled for May 19, according to the court docket.
