The Asian American Bar Association of New York on Wednesday presented “This Land is Our Land: Oyama v. California,” a 1948 U.S. Supreme Court case that struck down part of California's Alien Land Laws. The presentation included narration, reenactment of court proceedings and photographs.
Among those attending the event held at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft were, first photo, from left, Deputy Consul General of Japan Masashi Mizobuchi; bar executive director Yang Chen, Eastern District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto; Columbia University visiting professor Rose Cuison Villazor, Cadwalader senior counsel Kathy Hirata Chin, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Judge Denny Chin, and Cadwalader managing partner Patrick Quinn.
