Chief Judge Janet DiFiore has named four new members to the New York State Justice Task Force, as part of an effort to expand the task force's goals.

In addition to Bracewell partner Paul Shechtman (NYLJ, June 1), the task force now includes former state Judge Barry Kamins, a partner at Aidala Bertuna & Kamins in Manhattan; Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas; and Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino, who is a former Fulton County Court judge and district attorney.

Former Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman formed the task force in 2009 to examine the causes of wrongful convictions and recommend ways to avoid them. DiFiore has now asked the group of more than 20 lawyers and judges to address bail reform and speedy trial issues, according to two of the new members.
