A Monroe Town Court justice was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making false statements about her primary residence and falsifying records to obstruct a federal investigation into the matter.

Lurlyn Winchester, 58, who was elected in 2013, was charged with falsifying a home loan application for a condo that she pursued to satisfy the state's residency requirements for judges, according to the Southern District U.S. Attorney's Office.

After the loan provider threatened not to issue the loan, Winchester produced phony documents, including $9,000 worth of checks, that made it look like her longtime home in New City was being rented.
