Settlement specialists Kenneth Feinberg and Camille Biros, known for their work on relief funds for victims of the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks and other calamities, will administer a compensation fund for victims of sexual abuse by priests and deacons in the Diocese of Brooklyn.

According to a release from the diocese, the program will be modeled after a compensation fund established last year for victims of sexual abuse by members of the clergy for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, for which Feinberg and Biros also serve as administrators.

The release states that Feinberg and Biros will have “total independence” in determining compensation awards and that the fund will be governed by an oversight committee that includes retired Queens Supreme Court Justice Joseph Golia, though decisions by Feinberg and Biros cannot be appealed.
