The state Senate approved several of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's nominees to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Board of Parole.

The Senate reappointed Otis Cruse, who Cuomo selected to fill a vacancy in June 2015, and Walter William Smith Jr., who was appointed to the parole board by former Republican Gov. George Pataki in 1996.

The Senate also confirmed the new appointments of Tana Agostini, a policy analyst for the Assembly's corrections committee; former deputy commissioner of the New York City Department of Corrections Erik Berliner; and Caryne Demosthenes, a former employee with the division of parole who retired in 2015.
