John Nevius, who was also a shareholder in Anderson Kill's insurance recovery group, was committed to education and was a popular teacher and mentor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, his firm colleagues said.

John G. Nevius, an equity shareholder in Anderson Kill's insurance recovery group, chair of its environmental law group and adjunct professor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, has died. He was 56.
Nevius passed away after a long battle with cancer at his hospice care in Shaftsbury, Vermont, on Aug. 12, his wife Alison Hess informed Anderson Kill.
Nevius, who joined Anderson Kill in 1995, was named a shareholder by 2004. He was also the founding chair of the firm's environmental law group. He represented numerous Fortune 500 companies and tried and arbitrated a large number of complex disputes, generally involving environmental and technical insurance claims, during the course of his career.
