Carter Page, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, filed a 57-page defamation suit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Thursday against Yahoo parent company Oath, alleging the online news outlet published “a highly misleading article filled with false allegations” connecting Page to Russian officials.

In Page v. Oath, 17-cv-06990, Page described the Sept. 23, 2016, story published by Yahoo as “perhaps the most dangerous, reckless, irresponsible and historically-instrumental moments in modern-day sensational crime story journalism.” The story by Michael Isikoff claims U.S. intelligence community officials were probing ties between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia.

The article presented information included in a dossier compiled by a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele, on behalf of Orbis Intelligence. Some of the information alleged Page met with two sanctioned Russian officials.
