David Schaefer, left, president of the Federal Bar Council, presented Senior U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero of the Southern District of New York with the Emory Buckner Medal for outstanding public service from the Federal Bar Council at its Thanksgiving Luncheon at Grand Hyatt New York Wednesday. Marrero held positions in numerous civic and professional organizations including the New York Public Library, the State University of New York, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Arts, Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. The award is given in honor of Buckner who was the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1925 to 1927.
