Mayor's Advisory Committee to Hold Hearing on Interim Civil Court Judges

The Mayor's Advisory Committee on the Judiciary will hold a hearing on Tuesday, March 6 to hear testimony regarding Mayor Bill de Blasio's nominees for an interim appointment to Civil Court. The nominees are Deepa S. Ambekar, Jeffrey A. Gershuny and Adam D. Perlmutter.
Concise, written statements of information or testimony that will be presented at the hearing must be faxed no later than 10 a.m. on March 5 to the Mayor's Advisory Committee on the Judiciary, Attn: Desirée Kim, executive director, at 212-312-0970. The office number is 212-788-6800. The hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, 100 Church St., 12th floor, in Manhattan. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
