A memorial service for Judge Thomas P. Griesa will be held on April 2 at 4 p.m. in the Honorable John F. Keenan Ceremonial Courtroom of the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse (9th Floor North).

Judge Griesa was appointed U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York on June 30, 1972 and entered on duty Sept. 22, 1972. He served a term as Chief Judge of the Southern District Court. He was a graduate of Harvard College, receiving an A.B. degree in 1952, and Stanford Law School, receiving an LL.B. degree in 1958. He was also a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Washington State Bar Association. He died on December 24, 2017 at age 87.
