New York lawyers who use their mobile phones to access the Second Department's website will have an easier time starting today.

The department's new website, which debuted today, is a significant improvement over its more difficult to use predecessor.

“It has a more modern look and blends historic and modern graphics,” said Lucian Chalfen, director of public information for the state courts. “It also presents a streamlined feel and is more user-friendly, employing drop down lists and providing the opportunity to directly obtain information regarding such things as court calendars and new announcements from the home page with the click of a mouse.”

The new website also has new sections, including New and Noteworthy and Assigned Counsel Plan for the Second, (Brooklyn) Eleventh (Queens) and Thirteenth (Richmond) Judicial District, as well as an improved attorney matters section, Chalfen said.

The First Department already has improved its website.
