A New York State Assembly bill aims at better protecting immigrants with business in state court buildings from being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials without a court order.

The bill, carried in the chamber by Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, a native of Haiti, states that it will allow continued access to the criminal justice system and state courts to “all members of the community without fear of immigration-related consequences.”
