On June 13, the New York City Bar Association presented its 29th Annual Legal Services Awards. The awards give recognition to attorneys and non-attorneys who have provided full-time free legal services to indigent clients on a full-time basis for an extended period of time. This year's recipients were, from left: Robert Bacigalupi of Housing Works and HIV Law Project; Jackson Chin of LatinoJustice PRLDEF; Sergio Jimenez of Brooklyn Defender Services; Claudia Wilner of the National Center for Law & Economic Justice; and Fanny Chan of Mobilization for Justice. Joining the honorees were Roger Juan Maldonado, president of the New York City Bar Association; Martin Needelman, chair of the Committee on Pro Bono & Legal Services Subcommittee; presenting the awards Hon. Edwina G. Mendelson, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge, Justice Initiatives; and Jessica Klein, chair of the Committee on Pro Bono & Legal Services Subcommittee.
