David Oddo of Okun, Oddo & Babbat was sworn in as the 51st president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.

David Oddo of Okun, Oddo & Babbat was sworn in on Monday as the 51st president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association by Court of Appeals Judge Jenny Rivera. In written remarks, Oddo said that the NYSTLA has recently advocated for stronger rights for cancer patients bringing malpractice claims, expanded access to supplemental insurance coverage for victims of accidents involving uninsured drivers and expanding workers' rights. “NYSTLA will continue to be a strong voice for victims, patients, and consumers who too often are exploited by powerful special interests, as we keep up the fight to remove any and all obstacles to justice,” Oddo said. Oddo is a 1989 graduate of Touro Law School. In addition to his time in private practice, he also served in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
