Practice Profile: Dana Berkowitz chairs Stris & Maher's healthcare practice, which focuses on high-stakes disputes between providers and insurance companies. She has achieved favorable resolutions of numerous multimillion-dollar disputes without litigation. Dana also maintains an active trial and arbitration practice, and she has served as lead trial counsel in a range of complex commercial disputes. In addition, Dana authors many of the firm's high-profile appellate briefs. Notably, she led the successful briefing on appeal in the securities fraud class action Schueneman v. Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: Through her leading role in firm hiring and operations, Dana has overseen the expansion of the firm from three lawyers to fourteen and opened its New York office. Her innovative “litigation fellow” program gives recent college graduates the opportunity to work closely with firm attorneys to gain substantive experience before law school. Dana's pro bono experience includes multiple merits stage representations before the United States Supreme Court.

Prior Experience: Dana began her legal career at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton where she represented both institutions and individuals in investigations and litigation arising out of the financial crisis. She also helped vacate the conviction of a pro bono client who had been sentenced to death.

Education: Dana graduated with honors from Harvard Law School in 2011, and she graduated with honors from Princeton University in 2007.
