Freeborn & Peters, a midsize Chicago-based law firm, has hired New York-based corporate partner Robert Frucht from Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti, furthering its gradual expansion.

Frucht has a broad domestic and cross-border corporate practice, advising on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, public offerings, private placements and fund formation.

“We are excited to welcome Bob to our growing New York office and corporate team. As a leader in corporate and securities law, Bob offers valuable insights for our expanding roster of clients in New York and across all the firm's offices,” Daniel Hargraves, managing partner of Freeborn's New York office, said in a statement.

Adding to the firm's network of offices in Chicago; Springfield, Illinois; Richmond, Virginia; and Tampa, Florida, Freeborn established its Manhattan outpost through a tie-up with a small local law firm—Hargraves McConnell & Costigan—in March 2016. Frucht's hiring follows the addition of corporate partner Christopher Pesch in July 2018.

Frucht works on domestic deals, as well as on transactions involving parties and assets in locales as diverse as Hong Kong, Russia, India and the British Virgin Islands. His cross-border engagements range from representing intermediate holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands to advising foreign governments on stateside securities offerings, he said.
