Ilene Jaroslaw and Bradley Simon, two former federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York, are joining Phillips Nizer to launch a new white-collar and investigations practice in New York.

Jaroslaw, who comes from Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney, is a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York. Prior to starting his own firm, Simon & Partners, Simon was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District and served as a trial attorney with the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

As the head of the general crimes section, Jaroslaw supervised and trained more than 200 prosecutors. She worked on cases involving financial crimes such as securities fraud, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, money laundering and health care fraud.

Jaroslaw has also served as senior staff attorney for the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she represented physicians and medical practices. At the center, she served as lead counsel in June Medical Services v. Gee, the federal trial challenging Louisiana's laws that targeted abortion providers.

Simon represents both corporations and individuals in white-collar defense, civil litigation and corporate compliance issues. He has defended clients facing charges over securities, mail, wire and bank fraud, the FCPA, antitrust, tax evasion, health care fraud and political corruption.

Among his clients were New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi, New York real estate developer Jody Kriss, plaintiff in a $100 million RICO claim involving Trump real estate projects, New York businessman Morris Talansky in connection with the criminal investigation of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and David Chang, whose testimony led New Jersey Senator Robert Torricelli to drop his re-election bid.
