On May 7, Judge Jon O. Newman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit delivered this year’s Leslie H. Arps Lecture titled “What’s Wrong With Federal Sentencing?” at the New York City Bar Association.

Named for Leslie H. Arps, one of the founding members of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, the lecture series began in 1989. Former Arps lecturers have included Justice Lewis Powell, Jr., Dean John Feerick, Justice Elena Kagan, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, and Jeffrey Toobin.
