The New York State Bar Association conferred the George Bundy Smith Pioneer Award jointly to former U.S. Attorneys for the Southern District of New York Joon Kim, left, and Preet Bharara, right, on May 23 at its annual “Smooth Moves: Career Strategies for Attorneys of Color” event held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center. Former section chair Carrie Cohen, center, presented the awards.

The award, sponsored by the association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, recognizes lawyers who demonstrate commitment to legal excellence, community service and mentoring.
