• Eric Strain has joined Locke Lord as a partner in the firm’s aviation industry group. He was formerly with Nixon Peabody.
• Greenspoon Marder has added Michael Smith as a partner in the firm’s corporate and business practice group. Prior to joining he was at Dentons.
• Justin Pollak has joined Davis & Gilbert as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice group. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at Hand Baldachin & Associates.
• Robins Kaplan has named Oren Langer as hiring partner of the firm’s New York office.
• Blank Rome has hired Scott Samlin as a partner in the firm’s consumer financial services group. He joins from Pepper Hamilton where he was a partner in that firm’s financial services practice group. The firm has also hired João Santa-Rita, Jacob Kearney and Taylor Fish as associates. Santa-Rita was previously with McKool Smith. Kearney joins from Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle. Fish joins from Cohen Clair Lans Greifer Thorpe & Rottenstreich.
• Brian Hecht has joined Katten Muchin Rosenman as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice. He was formerly with Kirkland & Ellis.
• Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis has named Theodore Hecht as the managing partner of the firm’s New York office. Hecht is a member of Schnader’s departments for both business services and litigation and the practice groups for construction, class action, and appellate practice.
• Pasich has added Peter Halprin as a partner. Before joining, he was a shareholder Anderson Kill where he focused on insurance recovery and served as deputy co-chair of the cyber insurance recovery practice.
• Damien Weinstein and Brian Klein have formed the boutique law firm Weinstein + Klein, focusing on labor and employment counseling, litigation, and business matters. Prior to the formation of the new firm, Weinstein was an associate at Fishkin Lucks and Klein was with Franklin, Gringer & Cohen.
• Lindsay Nathan has joined Venable as counsel in the firm’s political law practice. Prior to joining, she was the senior corporate counsel for Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization. She also held senior positions in the office of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo where she provided legal and policy advice to the governor’s staff.
• Daniel Eisner has joined Schulte Roth & Zabel as a partner in the firm’s M&A and securities group. Previously, he was head of the private equity practice at DLA Piper.
• Elizabeth Larrauri Chamulak has joined Cullen and Dykman as a partner in the firm’s trusts and estates practice. Previously she was with CKR Law.
• Mendy Piekarski has joined Thompson Hine as senior counsel in the firm’s business litigation practice group.
• Robert Scheinfeld, former partner-in-charge of Baker Botts and head of the firm’s New York IP section, has been named co-chair of the firm’s intellectual property department.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
