New York’s legal, social justice and anti-gender violence communities joined Sanctuary for Families on Sept. 23 to honor Toko Serita, left, presiding judge of the Queens Human Trafficking Intervention Court, and William Silverman, center, partner at Proskauer Rose, at the 23rd annual Abely Awards. The honorees were joined by Judy Harris Kluger, executive director of Sanctuary for Families.

The awards, co-hosted by Davis Polk and Columbia Law School, recognize individuals making a difference in the lives of domestic violence and sex-trafficking survivors.
